Nathaniel Hawthorne (né Hathorne J– May 19, 1864) was an American novelist, biographer, and short story writer. Many of these stories have the tone of fables or allegories, ranging from light-hearted to dark and sinister, with touches of the supernatural to add some chills.) (The 2-volume set was published in 1851.) This, the third in the series, published in 1852, was the last such collection published during Hawthorne’s lifetime. The first volume was published in 1837, a second volume in 1842. The stories had all been previously published in magazines and annuals, hence the name. “Twice-Told Tales” is a series of short story collections by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
